芭石鉄路は、並行する道路がないような山奥に引かれた路線ですので、トンネルも何か所か存在します。観光用の客車は窓ガラスがありますので、トンネルの中に入ると、窓を閉めるように言われるのですが、地元用の客車は窓にガラスが入っていませんので、トンネルに入るたびに煤まみれになるのでしょうね。

Since Shibanxi railway is located in the heart of the mountainous area, there are several tunnels on the track. The passenger car for tourist have windowpanes, a conductor in the tourist car announce to close the window when the train comes into tunnels. But passenger cars for locals don't have windowpanes, the passengers must suffer from ash dust.

中国四川省の山奥に、芭石鉄路あるいはShibanxi（石板渓）として知られるナローゲージの孤立線が残されています。この鉄道、嘉陽集団という電力、炭鉱会社によって運営されているのですが、2003年に一旦は廃止が決定されたものの、並行する道路がないためだと思いますが、何とか存続することになり、最近は地元の住民の足としてだけではなく、観光鉄道としての生き残りを図っています。

There is a isolated narrow gauge railway known as Shibanxi railway or Jiayang Small Train in the deep mountains in Sichuan  province in China. This railway is operated by Sichuan Jiavan Group Co., Ltd, a power and coalmine company. In 2003, once they decided to take off the line but the company changed their mind and the line is still active. I think the company didn't stop operation of the trains because there is no other transportation for the residents along the railway. Recently the railway is operated not only for the peripheral people but also for tourists from outside.
