中国四川省の山奥に、芭石鉄路あるいはShibanxi（石板渓）として知られるナローゲージの孤立線が残されています。この鉄道、嘉陽集団という電力、炭鉱会社によって運営されているのですが、2003年に一旦は廃止が決定されたものの、並行する道路がないためだと思いますが、何とか存続することになり、最近は地元の住民の足としてだけではなく、観光鉄道としての生き残りを図っています。

There is a isolated narrow gauge railway known as Shibanxi railway or Jiayang Small Train in the deep mountains in Sichuan  province in China. This railway is operated by Sichuan Jiavan Group Co., Ltd, a power and coalmine company. In 2003, once they decided to take off the line but the company changed their mind and the line is still active. I think the company didn't stop operation of the trains because there is no other transportation for the residents along the railway. Recently the railway is operated not only for the peripheral people but also for tourists from outside.

一部路線が電化されていますが、旅客列車は全列車C2型蒸気機関車による運行です。
一日3便（土日は2便）の従来型列車の他に、観光客用の小奇麗な客車を一両だけ連結した列車が午前と午後に1便ずつ運行されていますので、全部で一日5往復（土日は4便）の列車が運行されていることになります。

「百年の時空を超えて運行する嘉陽小火車」として中国国内では宣伝されており、春の菜の花のシーズンには大変な人出になるそうです。

ちょっと現地で気になったんですけど、観光用のパンフレットやらポスターやら色々あるんですけど、どれも嘉陽小火車と書いていて、芭石（芭蕉沟－石渓）鉄路とか、石板渓（石渓の古い言い方らしい）とか書いているのを一回も見なかったような気がします。ちょっと不思議な感じがしますが、運営会社名を前面に押し出すことにしたんでしょうか。

今回は真冬の訪問だったのと、小雨まじりの天候だったのとで、四川省のイメージから想像していたよりはだいぶ寒く、良い煙に恵まれました。

年末年始は、集通鉄路で前進型の復活運転が行われたり、鉄法でSL祭りが開催されたりで、東北の方でもSLマニアのピークシーズンになりますので、そちらを優先して訪問する方が多いかとは思いますが、冬の芭石もなかなかですね。とりあえず、良く知られた撮影箇所での写真からアップします。

Some parts of the railway are installed electrical appliances but all passenger trains are operated with C2 type steam locomotive.

There are 3 services per day on weekdays and 2 services on Saturday and Sunday operated with the ordinary passenger cars and 2 services (in morning and afternoon) operated with a special passenger car everyday. A total of services are 5 on weekdays and 4 on weekend.

The steam trains are promoted as "Jiayang Small Train operated beyond 100 years" in China and it is said there are so many tourists during full bloom stage of field mustard in spring.

Before I visited there, I knew this railway just as Shibanxi railway or Bashi railway, however, I couldn't find any terms of Shibanxi and Bashi on any brochure and poster for tourists. I saw just only a term of "Jiayang Small Train". They might want to advertise their company name.

At this time, it was colder than expected and rainy. The condition of steam was excellent.

In the end of year, there are many events related to steam locomotive in the North East China such as operation of QJ types at Jitong line and the steam locomotive festival at Diaobingshan. I think most of steam locomotive freaks go for north east region, however, Shibanxi in winter time 

was also very nice. In this article, I introduce the pictures taken at the well-known locations.

現在では観光客を喜ばせるために色々と趣向が凝らされており、ここでは見通しのきく盛土上でドレインを盛大に吹いて虹を作るという、ニクイ演出がなされています。今回はほとんど曇り、小雨という天候だったのですが、この時だけ運よく陽が差したので、きれいな虹ができました。

Nowadays, the railway company has some twists on entertainment for sightseers such as rainbow made by blow steam from the locomotive on the embankment with good view. In this visit, it was almost cloudy or spit, however, at this moment, I could see the sunbeam and beautiful rainbow fortunately.

上の写真と同じ場所ですが、夕方の便です。先頭の客車は観光客用の車両で、窓にガラスが入っています。奥に見えているのは石板灘（滩）貯水池です。

This is the same location of the picture above. The first passenger car is for tourist which has window with plate glass. The pond behind the rail line is Shibantan pond.

これはその筋では有名な菜の花畑です。春には一面が黄色で覆われます。

This is the very famous field mustard fields among the steam locomotive freaks. The field is covered with yellow flowers in spring.
