黒竜江省には、ナローゲージの森林鉄道が多数存在しており、2000年代まではC2型という小型の蒸気機関車が牽引していました。
現在は全てDL化されてしまい、現役の蒸気機関車を見ることはできないのですが、いくつかの路線では、SLを動態保存しており、お願いすればチャーターすることも可能です。

ここ、綏棱森林鉄道もその一つであり、2012年の暮れにチャーターでのツアーに参加しました。

There are many logging railways in Heilongjiang province in China. They used C2 type narrow-gauge steam locomotive until 2000s.

Now, no steam locomotives are used in the railways but some of the forest railway companies preserve some steam locomotives for charter services.

Here, the Suiling Forest Railway is one of them. I joined the tour of steam locomotive charter in the end of 2012.




実は2007年夏に同じ黒竜江省の佳木斯市樺南県の森林鉄道を訪問したのですが、運悪く運休中で、かろうじて機務段で待機するC2を目にすることができたのみでした。この時は冬の訪問に備えての下見という感じで訪問したので、まぁこんなこともあろう、程度に考えていたのですが、冬には色々と多忙だったのと、運休中という情報があったのとで、もたもたと訪問を延期しているうちに、あろうことか廃線になってしまったという悲惨なエピソードがあったりします。

そういうわけで、色々と思い入れのある森林鉄道ですが、チャーターの動態保存機とはいえ、道中故障と応急修理を繰り返しながら、だましだましに進むポンコツの（失礼！）C2型は、現役時代を彷彿させるのに十分でした。

In the summer of 2007, I visited Huanan Forest Railway in Huanan county in Jiamusi city in Heilongjiang province. However, unfortunately the railway was out of service due to some accidents in coal mine. I just could see some C2 type locomotives resting at a yard. At that time, I planned to visit there again in winter time and the visitation in the summer was just a preliminary demonstration. In fact, this is my first and last visit. I could not visit there again since the railway was taken off.

Anyway, I could see the moving C2 type locomotive even though it was a preserved and chartered. The locomotive often got trouble and repaired on the way. It bore close resemblance to the way it used to.
